Marine-Grade LED Lighting for Ships, Ports & Offshore Platforms

Marine and offshore environments present some of the most aggressive conditions for any electrical equipment. Constant salt spray, extreme humidity, wave impact, and explosive atmospheres require lighting fixtures that are built to survive. LEDEX marine-grade LED fixtures are ABS-approved, IP67 rated, and available in Class I Division 1 and Division 2 configurations.

Our fixtures have been deployed across offshore platforms, port terminals, shipyards, and marine vessels, delivering zero-maintenance illumination that outlasts conventional lighting by 5-10x. With energy savings of 60%, switching to LEDEX LEDs also reduces generator fuel costs on offshore installations.

Marine and offshore facilities require multiple hazardous location classifications. Drilling platforms, production decks, and areas near wellheads where flammable gases are continuously present are classified as Class I Division 1 (C1D1) - requiring fully explosion-proof lighting with zero ignition potential. Areas adjacent to process equipment, pump rooms, and ventilated enclosures where gases may be present only during abnormal conditions are classified as Class I Division 2 (C1D2). Port terminal fuel handling zones and shipyard paint areas may also require Class I Division 1 or Class I Division 2 classified lighting. LEDEX provides ABS-approved, marine-grade explosion-proof LED fixtures certified for both C1D1 and C1D2 hazardous locations.

Every LEDEX marine fixture is tested to 5G vibration standards, essential for offshore platforms and vessels subjected to constant engine vibration, wave-induced motion, and drilling operations. Our 5G vibration-rated LED lighting maintains peak performance through the relentless mechanical stress of marine environments, where conventional fixtures fail prematurely due to solder joint fatigue and lens separation.

Marine & Offshore

Application Areas

Offshore Platforms

Oil and gas platforms requiring Class I Division 1 (C1D1) explosion-proof, salt-spray resistant fixtures on drilling and production decks where flammable hydrocarbon gases are present during normal operations. Well test areas and process modules also require C1D1 rated lighting. Adjacent accommodation and utility areas typically need Class I Division 2 (C1D2) rated LED fixtures.

Port Terminals

Loading docks and port facilities needing high-lumen, weather-resistant illumination. Petroleum and chemical loading terminals require Class I Division 2 (C1D2) rated lighting around transfer arms and manifolds. Fuel bunkering areas may require Class I Division 1 (C1D1) classified fixtures during active fueling operations.

Shipyards

Ship construction and repair facilities with welding fumes and marine exposure. Tank cleaning and fuel system maintenance areas in shipyards require Class I Division 1 (C1D1) explosion-proof lighting. General dry dock and construction areas may require Class I Division 2 (C1D2) rated fixtures when working on fuel systems or in confined tank spaces.

Marine Vessels

Cargo ships, tankers, and support vessels requiring ABS-approved fixtures. Tanker pump rooms and cargo areas are classified as Class I Division 1 (C1D1) hazardous locations. Engine rooms and adjacent spaces on vessels carrying flammable cargo require Class I Division 2 (C1D2) rated lighting. All marine fixtures must meet ABS certification standards.
